Completion of the First Pilot Dryer - NEWtainer ^® Modul+

With the 2025 patent application, WENNER Systemtechnik marks another milestone in the development of modular industrial drying systems. The new NEWtainer® modul+ series one is based consistently on the fully implemented modul+ system: flexible, pre-assembled, scalable and ready for industrial use.

The pilot plant now completed serves as a reference and demonstration system and will be presented for the first time to an international trade audience at IFAT 2026, the world's leading trade fair for environmental technologies.

Modular System Architecture – 100% modul+

The new drying container type modul+20RS forms the heart of the system. It consists of clearly defined modules that are functionally coordinated and fully pre-assembled in the factory.

The NEWtainer® modul+ series one consists of the following modules:

• Drying container module type modul+20RS
• Large service door in the dryer module for optimal maintenance access
• Head station module with product feed
• Walking-floor module with large buffer hopper and product feed
• Tension station module
• Product turning module
• Backpack module for belt drive and product discharge
• High-pressure belt cleaning module
• Belt tracking control module with hydraulics
• Supply air fan module
• Hot-water-to-air heat exchanger module
• Exhaust air module with radial exhaust fan
• Vertical exhaust shaft (standard module)
• Control cabinet with PLC system

This consistently modular design enables high system flexibility, short on-site installation times and scalable adaptation to different throughput requirements.

Factory Pre-Assembled – Delivered Ready for Operation. Fast to Deploy

A key feature of the modul+ system platform is its high degree of prefabrication:

• All modules and components are fully assembled in the factory.
• The drying belt is already installed at the factory.
• Once electrical installation is complete, the dryer is immediately ready for operation.
• The system is commissioned, tested and accepted at the factory.

For operators, this means minimized installation time, reduced interface risk and a predictable commissioning schedule.

Technologically Proven – Further Developed in Design

Although the new modular system was filed for patent in 2025, its process-engineering foundation is based on technology that has been proven for years. NEWtainer® drying technology has already been used successfully hundreds of times worldwide since 2009, especially in applications such as:

• Sewage sludge drying
• Bulk solids drying
• Residual material and waste drying
• Industrial belt drying

The new modular concept combines this proven drying technology with an enhanced, standardized container design, improved serviceability and higher energy efficiency through integrated heat exchanger systems.

The pilot plant of the NEWtainer® modul+ series one will be presented as a demonstration system at IFAT in May 2026. Interested parties, operators and specialist planners will have the opportunity at our facility near Messe Munich to:

• explore the modular design in detail,
• see the build quality for themselves,
• gain insight into the PLC control and process management,
• inspect the original belt tracking, cleaning and airflow concept.

The industry is eagerly awaiting the first operating experience with the new modular drying system. From a process-engineering standpoint, however, NEWtainer® does not need to prove itself from scratch; the technology has already demonstrated its performance in numerous international projects.
